The September Issue goes to Sundance!!
The film will screen Jan 16 2009 in SLC as the second night opening gala!

The September 2007 issue of Vogue magazine weighed nearly five pounds, and was the single largest issue of a magazine ever published. With unprecedented access, The September Issue, directed and produced by R.J. Cutler, tells the story of legendary Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and her larger-than-life team of editors creating the issue and ruling the world of fashion.

This score was a blast. I got to work with the phenomenal director RJ Cutler (The War Room, 30 Days...and zillions more), the gentle-spirited and incredibly talented editor Azin Samari, and music supervisor Margaret Yen (Juno) who is absolutely spectacular. Margaret really helped me find the 'sound' for this score. Different than anything I've done before. Synthy, rhythmic, modern....I'm really happy they hired me. It stretched me creatively and I learned so much.

Craig and RJ have been invited to participate in a BMI Composer/Director Panel at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival hosted by BMI VP Doreen Ringer-Ross. The Panel will take place Wed Jan 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kimball Arts Center in Park City, Utah.

Mother & Child Songs Of Christmas

11 years and still counting. This year's gig was back at Molly Mallone's.

My collaborators included:

Dreya Weber  - amazing singer and lead actor in 'The Gymnast'. Actor in 'Lovely & Amazing'. Aerial choreographer for Cher, Pink, Madonna.

Matt Alber - Tommy Boy recording artist. Another awesome talent.

Jon Ossman - bass. My guru! Has toured with Chris Botti, Paula Cole and played with Sting.

Steve Sidelnyk - drummer. What a special guy this is and a great player. Massive Attack, Madonna....and many more.

I feel so fortunate to get to play with the likes of these musicians. Truly humbling. We do this every year to collect toys for Project Angel Food's Annual Toy Drive so check back next season for gig info.

Wonderful World

Written and directed by Josh Goldin and starring Matthew Broderick. I completed this score in June 08. One of the scores I am the most proud of, it features a 22 piece string orchestra, kalimba, piano, bamboo sax and violin. And the sax really is a stick of bamboo with a sax mouthpiece in the end. Very cool instrument. It also includes the Kora, an African harp-like instrument. Film is in post-production and should be out soon.

Ford Focus Orchestra

Director Noam Murro (Smart People) asked me to write a piece for an orchestra made out of car parts! This was an incredible opportunity and experience. The Instruments were made in NJ by Bill Milbrodt and The Car Music Project. And their charge was to represent the four families of the orchestra, and that the instruments had to be able to play in tune with each other, and flexible enough to play musically! I wrote the piece before the instruments were made, and asked that they make instruments that could play my piece! I was sent daily videos of the parts strewn about the warehouse floor as they picked up items, clinked on them, described what could be made....and I wrote back with whatI saw and heard that I liked and wish lists of what I wanted. The instruments makers were incredible and gave me exactly what I wanted. The whole thing was amazing because it hadn't been done before and none of us quite knew if it would really work until the 11th hour. Exciting - and sometimes so stressful. But check it out. It worked!

This was for a Ford UK ad that ran in Europe, Russia, and Asia.

Gardens Of The Night

Written and directed by Damian Harris, starring Tom Arnold, Gillian Jacobs, Evan Ross and John Malkovich, opened in NY and LA in December 08 after winning the International Critics Award at the Deauville Film Festival in France. It was also featured at the 08 Berlinale (Berlin Film Festival) which I attended along with Damian, Gillian, Evan, and Tom; producers Thomas Carter, Rd Robb, and Pascal Franchot; and music supervisor Peymon Maskin. First trip to Berlin and I fell in love with the city. Realized I am a way under-traveled American who needs to get out and see the world!

"How refreshing to discover a film about a mature woman at a crossroads in her life.  THE GYMNAST is fresh and vibrant, acted with conviction by a talented ensemble.”             ~Leonard Maltin

“The heroine of this debut feature is an original, complex creation...a triumph for Weber.”             ~LA WEEKLY

“A polished, absorbing piece of work. Uncommonly sensual, and economically told, it’s the kind of film in which a glance, a touch or a gesture communicates with an eloquence and potency words struggle to match...flecked with grace notes and strong characterization, THE GYMNAST delivers emotional intensity without overplaying its hand."             ~Bill Thompson, THE POST AND COURIER

"THE GYMNAST delivers emotional intensity in tastefully spectacular wrappings...the entire film unfolds in the space between physicality and sexuality."            ~Ronnie Scheib, VARIETY

"This vertiginous, voluptuous love story is the kind of film that really stays with you. Weber is a knockout and there isn’t a false move; don’t miss the end credits which include grace notes in the final scenes.”             ~Leonard Maran, SAN FRANCISCO OBSERVER
